From 'Easy Ryder' to 'Monty zoomer' all the sports headlines today are about Europe's fantastic Ryder Cup golf win - soundly trouncing the American's in their own backyard.

The aforementioned 'Monty' is, of course, Scotsman Colin Montgomerie, who took the plaudits, sinking the winning putt to seal captain Bernhard Langer's European team's victory.

RBS (Royal Bank of Scotland) are right on the button with this topical, timely and relevant ad from Saatchi & Saatchi  On the front page of The Daily Telegraph's sports section:

"Well done Bernhard"

shows empathy with a relevant audience and the cordial, polite looking creative (with just a smidgen of gloating in the text) fits in perfectly with golf's more 'polite' sporting image.

The relvance of the brand, Royal Bank of Scotland won't be missed by those in the know about a famous, record-breaking win.  Proud Scot Colin Montgomerie holing out to clinch victory after a year of personal and professional turmoil, most of which has seen much newspaper coverage too - making newspapers the perfect medium for this ad.

Timley, topical, relevant and well placed this is our Breaking Ad of the day.
