We were spoiled for choice today as advertiers queued up join in with the celebrations of England's Ashes triumph.

All the national newspapers were filled (back pages and front) with coverage, photos, interviews and general triumphalism about England's famous success at The Brit Oval.

Our favourite of all of the ads though, was this one from NatWest - not only proudly reflecting their history of supporting cricket in this country, but hilariously tongue-in-cheek and "in" with cricket fan's knowledge of the sport.

One of the most famous pieces of sporting journalism was in 1882 - when Australia first beat England, and The Sporting Times wrote an obituary for "English cricket".  The ashes of which were taken to Australia, according to the obituary.  The idea of the Ashes was born...

NatWest's amusing twist on this famous article, taken as a 'press clipping' in their ad, is a real 'nod' to cricket fans and lends great empathy and stand-out.

Placed amidst the reams of coverage on the subject, this is our Breaking Ad of the day.

This ad appeared in newspapers in the UK.
