The judge's opinion is final. But that doesn't mean you can't have your say. What do you think about this month's ANNA winners? Or what do you think about newspaper advertising in general? YOUR VIEW

John O'Keeffe is, of course, spot on. Simplicity is the key to any great ad.

But simplicity doesn't have to mean your press ad is nothing more than a scaled down poster idea (a great poster idea admittedly).  You can do a press ad with loads of copy. Or a deliberately very fussy treatment.  Or lots of other stuff (calls to action and all the rest of the filthy commercial stuff that pays for the ad in the first place) in it.  But the essential idea behind it can be simple.

Or alternatively we can just apply the 'less is more' purist approach in a crass, snobbish way and continue to slaver over press ads that are just posters in disguise.

[Channel 4 - The Queen's Sister] Tacky and gauche - art imitates life. Loved it.

And about time too, that the old but very true guideline was accepted as a basis of good and profitable commercial design: KEEP IT SIMPLE (as per Millets and Tesco ads). It would be interesting to see any marketing results, but that would be to good to be true!

Inspirational stuff!

Good to see smaller brands like Windsor Products and Scottish Executive mixing it with the Tescos and BMWs of this world and the smaller and in-house creatives getting in on the act too.
David A, Manchester

An array of ads, brands and categories winning so far.  Interesting to note that a previously less well known brand, Millets, has scooped two monthly prizes already - a clear advertising push, which appears to be working!
Abby S, London

Well, what can I say, it looks like the trend there in London is illustrated flowers (or gardens) i.e W+K Grr, DDB Beetle tvc and of course the ANNA ad of the month.  I only feel that the idea is not fresh anymore.
