Monthly nominations for the creative print awards Each month a leading creative director nominates advertisements from that month's national newspapers. Up to eight advertisements can be nominated each month for the annual awards with one nominee chosen as the judge's 'Ad of the Month'.
In December, the 12 judges on our panel select from all the year's nominated ads ('Ad of the Month' or not) to select the 'Winner of Winners' and recipients for the Copywriting and Art Direction awards. The Online award is judged slightly differently, see below.
Creative Media Partnership and Topicality Awards Entries from media teams are required for the Creative Media Partnership Award. Simply email a Word document to awards@the-annas.co.uk describing the thinking behind the media strategy as succinctly as possible (around 200 words is ideal), including media & creative credits and images of the ad/campaign. As an example, click here to see the text that accompanied the 2007 CMP winner. For the Topicality award, please feel free to e-mail any ads or campaigns that you would like to be considered, to awards@the-annas.co.uk.
The shortlists for the Creative Media Partnership and Topicality awards are chosen by the team at the Newspaper Marketing Agency (NMA) based on the criteria outlined above. From the shortlist, the winners are chosen by our specialist panel of judges - creative directors and leading figures from the media planning industry.
Online Award The Online Award focuses on ads that make the best use of newspaper websites. In order to be considered, the campaign has to have featured during the year (Nov - Oct) on one or more of the newspaper websites supported by the NMA.
Campaigns must first be submitted by completing the submission form in the 'Online Award' section of the website. The ad/campaign will then be reviewed by the team at the NMA and an e-mail will be sent out advising whether it has been accepted for judging. If accepted, it will be put forward for judging at the end of the year.
The closing date for submissions into this year's awards is the end of October and any entries received after this date cannot be considered. Judging takes place in early December and our specialist digital judges will choose a winner and a selection of nominees.
The rules in full
Qualifying ads must run in one of the NMA's stakeholder publications in the judging year (November to October inclusive).
All ads must be paid-for advertising. Charity advertising is not eligible.
Ads must adhere to the British Code of Advertising, Sales Promotion and Direct Marketing. Any ad that is subject to an upheld complaint to the Advertising Standards Authority is not eligible.
The money prizes are allocated to a specific ad and awarded to the specific team or individual named as the originator(s) of the ad by the relevant agency when the ad is nominated for the awards.
Stakeholder employees are not eligible for the money prizes.
Where a cash prize is won by a creative team, the prize money will be divided equally between the members of that team.
Any tax or other legal charges becoming due as a result of the prize are to be borne by the winner(s) of the prizes.
Judges may not select advertisements from their own agencies as money prize winners or 'Ad of the Month'.
The judges' decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into concerning the published results.
By accepting a nomination for the ANNAs, you agree that the NMA can feature your campaign in our award publications, including the ANNAs Annual, website and the NMA website, plus any press and PR materials produced for the ANNAs and/or the NMA.
The results are announced at the annual Awards for National Newspaper Advertising event in January and are posted on the ANNAs website.
